Still no ring… But it hasn’t stopped me from planning. We want a big fun party. This is both of our second marriages, and to be honest with you, if it weren’t for the kids I would suggest doing it just the two of us. It’s not just Jake and I getting married and starting a life together, the kids are too. I want them to feel like they are just as much a part of this as Jake and I are.

I’ve decided to make the reception very kid friendly, and have decided on a classy circus theme.
Before you start thinking white trash and clowns everywhere, just remember that it’s all in the presentation. I wanted to have fun food that the kids would enjoy, and I want everyone to come and bring their families and have fun.

It all started when I was thinking about the menu. The Heumann family is all about the food. I knew I wanted a little kids section with a nacho machine and kid friendly food. I knew I wanted my kids to feel like this was their day too. At first I was going to do normal wedding food… chicken, beef, baked potato’s… the boring stuff. The more I told people about my idea to have a kids section they would say that they were going to sneak over there and eat. So, my new idea was born…

I’m going to do different food stations. One station we will have sliders. I like the idea of sliders because you aren’t committed to a big hamburger, and you can have more than one with different toppings. We will have several different kinds of cheeses, sauces and toppings. They are going to be a little more gourmet than the traditional hamburger.

The next station will be hotdogs. I found a place where I can rent a hotdog roller. Hello – that is totally fun! We will have all of the toppings for the best hotdog ever – and of course they will be yummy 100% beef. We will also be serving them in the traditional circus style container – if that’s what they’re called.

The next station will be the nachos. Ok, I have to admit that I’m a huge fan of processed cheese. I know that this sick’s some of you out (Cynthia), but I live for it. I’m going to rent the nacho machine and chip warmer and we will have all of the toppings… onions, tomato, salsa, olives, sour cream, jalapenios… to name a few.

Next will be side dishes. Potato salad, bakes beans, coleslaw (love) and pasta salad. All homemade of course.

And then we will have a station of gourmet chips – and Jacks favorite cheese balls. We will serve them in different shape and size bowls with ribbon wrapped around the bowl.

And then the last 3 stations will be popcorn, cotton candy and snow cones.

Here are some of my decorating ideas….

I love the candy. :) I was at a wedding a while ago and they had candy like that with little cellophane bags and ties that said "Thank You" on them. People could just fill the bag with Candy that they liked (sour patch kids, butter minds, Swedish fish etc) and tie it shut with the Thank you ribbon and make their very own Party Favor to take home...the candy reminded me of that.
